דֶּרֶךְ

derek

DEH-rekh

way, road, manner of life

Where it comes from

A derek is a road worn into the ground by people walking it. The word means the route and the habit at once — how you go and how you live are the same noun. The Psalm does not say the wrong road is punished. It says it perishes, the way a path fades when nobody uses it.
