רֵעַ
rea
RAY-ah
friend, companion, the other person
Where it comes from
Rea is not neighbour in the sense of the house next door. It is the other person — whoever is in front of you. When Jesus is asked who counts as a rea, he answers with a story about a foreigner, which is the same answer this verse already gave.
