Free Bible games, and the reward is Scripture

Nine small games you play in a browser. No account, no download, nothing to install and nothing to pay. Every one of them is built on the King James text, and every one of them ends the same way: the verse you were working for, set out whole, with a button into the chapter it came from.

Scripture is never the question in these games. Scripture is the prize.

Why the reward is a verse

Most Bible games quiz you. You either know the answer or you do not, and either way you leave with what you came in with. These work the other way round. The game is the ordinary part — a snake, a runner, a matching board — and the Word is what you carry out of it.

We did not put Scripture at the end of a game because it made a tidy reward. We did it because of who the Word is about:

Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.
John 5:39

Every verse you catch in these games is testifying of Jesus. That is the whole reason they exist — not to make you clever about the Bible, but to put you in front of the One the Bible is about, for two minutes, while you were only meaning to play something.

The nine games

GATHER — Psalm 119:11. Snake, except the tail is the verse. One word at a time, in order, and the sentence assembles behind you as you go.

UNCOVER — 1 Corinthians 13:12. Knock the tiles off the wall and a Doré engraving comes out from underneath, a little at a time.

MANNA — Exodus 16:21. Words come down like bread in the wilderness. Gather each one in its turn, before the sun is up.

THE NARROW WAY — Matthew 7:14. Fly the gates. Every gate hands you a word, and the way tightens as you go.

THE WIDE SEA — Psalm 104:25. Swim after the word you need, among things creeping innumerable.

PUTT — Proverbs 4:26. Read the line, take the shot, and keep your eyes straight before you.

THE RACE — Hebrews 12:1. Run, and lay aside every weight, and the words come to you as you pass them.

QUENCH — Ephesians 6:16. Fiery darts come down in ranks. The Word goes up and puts them out.

THE BREASTPLATE — Exodus 28:29. Slide the stones and set three of a kind. Twelve named stones, carried on the heart before the LORD.

Free, and free of everything else

There is no account to make and no email to give. There is no advertising. Nothing is tracked back to you — your scores are kept on your own phone and nowhere else, and you can clear them by clearing the page. Turn the sound on or off with the speaker button, and read in the dark or the light.

Three translations

A switch at the top of the menu: KJV, BSB (Berean Standard Bible) and RVR (Reina-Valera 1909, in Spanish). Flip it and the verses, the chapters and the plate captions all come through in that translation. A game whose reward is His Word should not quietly require you to read English, or one particular English.

Then go and read the chapter

Whatever your score, every run ends the same way: the verse set out whole, the engraving if that chapter has one, and a button that says READ THE CHAPTER. The game is the doorway. The chapter is the room.

Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.
Psalm 119:11
