Where it comes from

The word for meat, for the body, for kinship — bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh. The covenant is cut into the body rather than written on a page, because God deals with people where they actually live.

Genesis 17:13

He that is born in thy house, and he that is bought with thy money, must needs be circumcised: and my covenant shall be in your flesh for an everlasting covenant.
