אָבַק

abaq

a-VAK

to wrestle, to grapple

Where it comes from

Probably from avaq, dust — to get dusty with someone. It appears only in this passage. Jacob spends one night in the dust with God and limps for the rest of his life.

Genesis 32:24

And Jacob was left alone; and there wrestled a man with him until the breaking of the day.
