The Message

Seventy-one times in the Psalms, three more in Habakkuk, and nobody is certain what it means — most likely a musical direction to pause, or to lift. In Psalm 46 it lands one verse after “Be still, and know that I am God”, which is about as good a translation as anyone has managed. Pause, and lift. The Lord of hosts with us has a name now: Jesus, God with us.
