Where it comes from

The ordinary word for a day labourer’s pay. God does not say he will give Abram a great reward. He says he is the reward — the wage is the employer. Same verse as yesterday, and the second half of it.

Genesis 15:1

After these things the word of the LORD came unto Abram in a vision, saying, Fear not, Abram: I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward.
