The Message
God’s answer to Job runs four chapters and most of it is animals. Notice He is not arguing with Job. He is showing him things — and every one of them is a creature Job cannot make, cannot command, and had not thought about. Six verses later the same horse smelleth the battle afar off.
The Creature
A horse can rotate each ear roughly 180 degrees independently, placing a sound precisely without turning its head. It can also sleep standing up: a stay apparatus of tendons and ligaments locks the leg joints so the muscles can rest while the animal stays upright and ready to move.
