Zephaniah
King James Version · 3 chapters · 53 verses · Old Testament
The day of the LORD, and a song after it
The word of the LORD which came unto Zephaniah, in the days of Josiah king of Judah — so, during the last serious attempt at reform before the exile. He preaches the day of the LORD as a day of wrath and trouble that will sweep Judah and the nations alike, and he goes after the people who have quietly decided God does no more good or evil and has stopped paying attention. Then, in the last few verses, the tone breaks open completely, and God is described singing over His people with joy and resting in His love.
