Galatians

King James Version · 6 chapters · 149 verses · New Testament

There is no other gospel

The angriest letter in the New Testament, and it skips the usual thanksgiving entirely. Teachers had come to the Galatian churches insisting that Gentile believers had to keep the law of Moses to be properly saved, and Paul treats this as a different gospel and no gospel at all. He recounts confronting Peter to his face over it. He argues from Abraham that the promise came before the law and was never conditional on it. The law was a schoolmaster to bring us to Christ, and the schoolmaster's job is finished. The last chapters describe what the Spirit grows in a person instead.
