What the church actually is
Three chapters of doctrine, then three of how to live, and the hinge between them is the word therefore. The first half is about what God has done before you did anything: chosen, adopted, redeemed, and made alive when you were dead. By grace are ye saved through faith, and that not of yourselves. It is the fullest description in the New Testament of the church as one body, with the wall between Jew and Gentile broken down. The second half works it out at home and at work, and closes with the armour of God, piece by piece.
