Somebody is awake even when you cannot stay awake. The whole psalm is about being kept.

Psalm 61

From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I.

He does not ask to be taken out of it. He asks to be led somewhere higher than where he is standing.

Psalm 116

Return unto thy rest, O my soul; for the LORD hath dealt bountifully with thee.

He is telling his own soul to go back to rest, and he has reason to.
