About this psalm
A love song, set to a tune called The Lilies. It is a marriage psalm for a king — his sword, his throne, his robes smelling of myrrh and aloes, the queen in gold of Ophir, the bride told to forget her own people. Hebrews quotes its sixth and seventh verses and applies them to the Son. The psalmist opens by saying his tongue is the pen of a ready writer.
