Psalm 10 · Book One
Acrostic
About this psalm
No title, no named author, and it begins with the hardest question in the book: Why standest thou afar off, O LORD? why hidest thou thyself in times of trouble? What follows is a long, unflinching portrait of a man who does as he likes and tells himself God will never see it. The psalm does not hurry to comfort. It finishes the alphabet Psalm 9 began.
Read it when the wicked are plainly prospering and nobody is stopping them.
