2 Timothy
King James Version · 4 chapters · 83 verses · New Testament
The last letter
Paul is in prison again, and this time he does not expect to be released. He asks Timothy to come before winter, and to bring the cloak he left at Troas, and the books, and especially the parchments — which is a strangely ordinary detail to find in a man's last letter. He warns that people will not endure sound doctrine and will gather teachers who tell them what they want to hear. He charges Timothy to preach the word in season and out. And then, near the end, he looks back: I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.
