2 Thessalonians

King James Version · 3 chapters · 47 verses · New Testament

A correction, and get back to work

Paul, Silvanus and Timotheus again, and a short follow-up letter. Word had reached the church, possibly by a forged letter in Paul's name, that the day of Christ was at hand. He tells them not to be shaken in mind, and explains that certain things must happen first. Then he deals with a practical consequence: some of them had stopped working altogether and were living off everyone else while they waited. His ruling is blunt — if any would not work, neither should he eat — and he points to his own labour among them as the example.
