2 John

King James Version · 1 chapters · 13 verses · New Testament

Thirteen verses on truth and love

The elder unto the elect lady and her children — possibly a woman and her family, possibly a church described that way. It is a single short chapter and it holds two things together that people tend to pull apart. He asks them to love one another, which is not a new commandment but the one they had from the beginning. And he warns that deceivers have gone out into the world who deny that Jesus Christ came in the flesh, and tells them not to receive such a man into the house or wish him well. He would rather finish the conversation face to face.
