The passage

And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.
Revelation 21:1

About this woodcut

A walled city sits in a wide landscape with towers and gates, hills behind it, and a river coming down out of the gate and running along the front of the picture. Trees stand on the bank. In the upper right an angel is showing the view to a man who has been carried up onto the high ground.

After twenty chapters of monsters and fire, the last picture in the book is a town by a river with trees. Solis draws it as a real place, not a vision. The angel is pointing, and John is only looking. There is nothing to fight in this frame, and that is the point of it.
