About this psalm
Written after the holy place was wrecked: they have cast fire into thy sanctuary, they have defiled by casting down the dwelling place of thy name to the ground. What hurts most in it is the silence — we see not our signs: there is no more any prophet. Asaph answers by rehearsing what God has done before, dividing the sea and cutting the rivers, and by asking him to remember.
