About this psalm

The title is exact: when Saul sent men to watch David’s house, to kill him. The enemies in it come back at evening, make a noise like a dog, and go round about the city. What David does with that night is sing about morning: I will sing of thy power; yea, I will sing aloud of thy mercy in the morning. Unto thee, O my strength, will I sing.

Read it when you are waiting out a night that may not end well.
