About this psalm
The title sets the scene: a Psalm of David, when he fled from his son Absalom. He begins by counting the people against him and ends by handing the whole matter over — Salvation belongeth unto the LORD. In between he says he lay down and slept, which is a strange thing to say with an army behind you, and is the point of the psalm.
