Psalm 120 · Book Five
A song of ascents.
The Hebrew title · Berean Standard Bible
Song of Ascents
About this psalm
The first of the fifteen songs of ascents, sung by pilgrims going up to Jerusalem. It starts a long way off, among people who hate peace, in tents far from home. Deliver my soul, O LORD, from lying lips. The climb begins in the worst possible place, which is probably the point of putting it first.
