How it ends
The Revelation of Jesus Christ, given to His servant John, exiled on the island of Patmos. It opens with letters to seven real churches, each one commended, corrected, or both, and those two chapters are the most straightforward in the book. Then a door opens in heaven and the visions begin: a throne, a scroll no one is worthy to open, a Lamb as it had been slain, seven seals, seven trumpets, seven vials. A beast, a woman, a dragon, and a war already decided. Christians have read the middle differently for two thousand years. The end is not in dispute — every tear wiped away, and no more death.
